Annual Giving

Annual Giving

On June 1, Beth El marked its centennial anniversary. The weekend was full of joy, humor, and warmth. It was wonderful celebrating with so many of you, sharing smiles, hugs and memories as we looked back on our first hundred years.

Above all, what was in the air that weekend was a sense of family, of young and old celebrating together, of pride in what we have built and nurtured.

Now, as we begin our second century, let’s continue to work together to help make our Beth El family even stronger. Perfect examples of this are:

Families look out for each other.

We keep each other safe in difficult times. Recent incidents in D.C. and Boulder remind us that we must be ever vigilant. Grateful for the security team that protects us, our children and grandchildren, this peace of mind is unfortunately essential. Please invest by adding at least $180 per household above your annual support in staff and state-of-the-art security measures. Please note, this approach is also in an effort to eliminate additional appeals later in the year.

Families celebrate and share together.

Sitting and schmoozing over kiddush lunch on Shabbat and holidays is sacred time that builds community. You told us how much you love it. We’ve come up with a sustainable model that was recently communicated in a Kesher noting the need for additional support. We are asking for each household to consider an additional $120 to their annual giving. This will ensure kiddush lunches remain a highlight of our week.

Families welcome new members.

Earlier this year, we celebrated as eight people marked their adult b’nai mitzvah. Having converted as adults, they studied for two years to read Torah and lead the congregation. The joy was palpable. And we are excited to have them continue reading Torah and get even more involved in our congregation. Your support makes possible programs like this that strengthen our community by welcoming and teaching adult Jewish learners.

Families honor their past and build for their future.

As we begin a new fiscal year and as we start to write the story of our next century, your support is needed more than ever.  We’re asking everyone to consider increasing their current level of giving by at least $300 — $180 to cover our security needs and $120 to cover the costs of kiddush lunches. If you can do even more, great! For it allows us to offer additional programming and opportunities to join together as family and community.

Our morning prayers always begin with “Ma Tovu,” “How good it is!” How good it is to be together, to sit and pray together, to learn together, to celebrate together, to face challenges together, to grow together. With your continued help, let’s create even more reasons to say “Ma Tovu” at Beth El, how truly good it is to be part of this wonderful family that we love so much.
