Join us Saturday September 13th as we gather for Selichot, the moving service that ushers us into the High Holy Days. Through prayer, music, and reflection, we’ll prepare our hearts for the journey of teshuvah — return and renewal— in the days ahead. Together, we’ll step into this sacred season with intention, community, and hope.
8:30 pm – Havdallah & Nosh
9:00 pm – Learning with Rabbi David Thomas
The weeks leading up to the Days of Awe are a time for Heshbon Ha-nefesh – self-reflection and personal assessment. How do we engage in a process that is positive, affirming, and honest? The Talmud offers us a framework for this soul searching in the form of six questions that we’ll be asked on The Day of Judgement.
Rabbi David Thomas served as rabbi of Congregation Beth El in Sudbury, MA, retiring in 2018 to move to Minneapolis. During his tenure in Sudbury, he launched the award-winning MetroWest Free Medical Program and became known for his social action and racial justice initiatives. Rabbi Thomas is a Senior Rabbinic Fellow of the Shalom Hartman Institute, bringing Hartman style learning to his communities for more than 20 years. Drawn to study of the Hasidic masters, Rabbi Thomas’s teaching is engaging and participatory.
10:00 pm – Musical Selichot service led by Rabbi Goldberg, featuring Cantor Abrams and the Beth El High Holy Day choir
