On Shavuot, we welcome Scholar In Residence Rabbi John Carrier. Rabbi Carrier converted to Judaism in 2000 and was ordained in 2014 by the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies in Los Angeles. While serving congregations in Southern California for 9 years, Rabbi Carrier discovered a passion for the classroom (and the Zoom-room), sharing the wisdom of our tradition with Jewish and Jew-curious people of all ages, as well as a commitment to helping those who find their way to the Jewish family, as others helped him. Since 2014 Rabbi Carrier has taught hundreds of students in the Miller Introduction to Judaism Program and welcomed dozens of new Jews into our family, both as a sponsoring rabbi and as a member of the Beit Din.
Today he lives with his family in South Minneapolis and teaches Hebrew at St. Louis Park High School, middle schoolers at Talmud Torah of Minneapolis, and online for the Miller Intro to Judaism program and the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning.
