Bread and Torah Workshop

Please join us for a unique opportunity as Beth El Synagogue welcomes scholars in residence Rabbi Linda Motzkin, soferet, parchment maker, and scribal artist, and Rabbi Jonathan Rubenstein, bread maker and baking teacher.

 

 

 

Thursday, March 8 | 7:30 – 9:30 pm

Challah and Parchment Making

Challah Workshop: learn baking techniques and Torah
Parchment Making: Participate in the holy work of making a Torah scroll.

No charge but registration is required.  RSVP to lrappaport@bethelsynagogue.org

Saturday, March 10 | 6:30 – 9:30 pm

Babka and Torah for B’nai Mitzvah Families

Join us for a pizza dinner at 6:30 pm followed by Havdallah.
Practice the art of baking babka with Rabbi Rubenstein.
Learn with Rabbi Motzkin how a Torah is written and stretch a hide to make parchment.
The evening will conclude with the fresh baked desserts!

Return Sunday morning, 9:30 – 11:30 am, to learn Hebrew calligraphy and to proofread panels for a new sefer Torah.
Stay for brunch featuring freshly made bagels.

Cost for the weekend is $25/family.  Registration is required.  RSVP to lrappaport@bethelsynagogue.org

Bagels, Schmear and Torah

Learn Torah and the art of making bagels with Rabbi Rubenstein.
